Mom worried I'll get serial kisser tag: Ruslaan Mumtaz

He has kissed three different heroines in three films. No wonder actor Ruslaan Mumtaz's actress mother Anjana was worried that afterEmraan Hashmi her son will get the "serial kisser" tag in Bollywood.

"My mother is worried, and she keeps telling me that 'no girl will marry you'. She feels I will create an image, a perception and will be called the next serial kisser. In three films, I have kissed three heroines already," Ruslaan told IANS.

In his debut film MP3 - Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar (2007), he locked lips with Hazel Crowney, while in Teree Sang (2009), he was seen getting intimate with Sheena Shahabadi. If that wasn't enough already, in his third film I Don't Luv U, he once again gets up close and personal with his co-star.

Releasing on May 17, the film will see him romancing debutant Chetna Pande. The story revolves around an MMS scandal, and how if affects the relationship of two youngsters.

Ruslaan says he pacifies his mother with the fact that "you can't choose your films based on whether or not it has a kissing scene".

"If I like a story, and it requires a kiss, it's okay. But I won't work with people who want to add a kiss to the story just like that," he said.

Moreover, the 29-year-old believes the Indian audience doesn't need theatres and films to watch explicit scenes.

"They have so many avenues where they can watch it all for free. There's internet, the phone...why would the audience pay Rs.300 for a ticket to watch intimacy in a film," said the actor.

Nevertheless, he is quite comfortable kissing in front of the camera.

"There's nothing personal about kissing for a film. There's no reaction to it. But when we were shooting for I Don't Luv U, Chetna was nervous. I told her, 'Just don't worry, and do it in one take'. That's the best way to do it. It gets uncomfortable when you have to do retakes and do it over and over again," said Ruslaan.

I Don't Luv U, directed by Amit Kasaria and presented by Amrapali Media Vision, is produced byAnil Kumar Sharma in association with Pallavi Mishra. The movie is said to be inspired by the 2004 MMS scandal involving two school going students.

Back in 2011, Ruslaan was himself embroiled in an MMS scandal, featuring the daughter of a veteran actress. He said he was "never involved" in it.

"My only connection with it was that a close friend of mine featured in it, and it is only a coincidence that I am featuring in a film around an MMS scandal," he said.

Ishq Ki Maa Ki censored, lyrics changed to Ishq Ki Naa ki

The lyrics of Mika's newest Bollywood offering Ishq ki maa ki from the upcoming film I Don't Luv U had to be changed after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) raised objections to the lyrics. The song, which features in the movie's trailer, will now be called Ishq ki naa ki.
"We had to replace the word Maa ki with Naa ki in Mika's song in order to honour the Censor's verdict," Pallavi Mishra, the film's associate producer, told IANS.
I Don't Luv U, starring Ruslaan Mumtaz and debutante Chetna Pande, releases May 17. It is a movie on the modern youth and how casually they tackle relationships, with the backdrop of an MMS scandal.
Mishra said the term Maa ki was not used in a bad sense.
"It was used only to add some fun element and show the frustration of youth against love. It is another way of saying to hell with love, and nothing serious," she added.
The film, which is otherwise said to have been given a U/A certificate, is written and directed by Amit Kasaria. Presented by Amrapali Media Vision, it is produced by Anil Kumar Sharma in association with Pallavi Mishra.

MMS scandal now on screen

By Subhash K. Jha, Apr 13, 2013 - 11:24 IST

Ruslaan Mumtaz, who in 2011, was embroiled in an MMS scandal with Salma Agha's daughter Sara, has now shot and completed a film entitled I Don't Luv Ubased on the infamous 2004 MMS scandal that involved two school-going children from New Delhi.

Says Ruslaan, "It's a college love story with an MMS as the conflict point. It is inspired by the 2004 MMS scandal, where a video of two school goers having sex was leaked on Internet." Model-turned-actress Chetna Pandey plays Ruslaan's co-star in film, and the movie, we hear, will leave little to imagination.

Says Ruslaan, "It isn't a scandalous film. We shot the MMS-clip sequence carefully. You see, the boy had shot the clip without showing his face. We shot it exactly the same way. My face won't be visible on screen. But we will be caught in the act."

The original was used by the director as reference-point for Ruslaan and Chetna's on-screen activity. "The original clip is easily available on the Internet. The story will be told from the point of view of the youngsters, who will be portrayed as victims. The boy's phone is shown to get misplaced, and the MMS is leaked all over the net. It's not about the scandal. It's about the trauma," reveals Ruslaan.

What about the trauma that Ruslaan went through when he was accused of leaking an MMS clip of Salma Agha's daughter? "That wasn't me in the clip. But yes, I am no stranger to MMS scandals," he replies.

Interestingly Ruslaan admits he lost control while shooting the MMS-sex sequence. "Basically in the heat of the moment I opened the zip on Chetna's dress and it almost fell off. It was a tough scene to shoot."

Apparently, Ruslaan was at one time dating the girl whom he seduces into an MMS compromise in the film. "Well, yes we were very close long before we shot together for the film. I don't know if that made the love-making sequence easier or more difficult. But it was a tough scene to do."

Ruslaan Mumtaz is preparing to release his upcoming film I Don't Love U.

The movie, which has the tagline 'Love will never be the same again', revolves around the consequences of a leaked MMS clip.

"I Don't Love U is a college love story that goes wrong. An MMS leak causes the lovers to drift apart. It's a film about love, redemption and commitment. Women will love it and guys will identify," Mumtaz told Digital Spy.

The Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar and Teree Sang actor spoke about his absence from the big screen since last appearing in Karisma Kapoor's comeback vehicle Dangerous Ishq.

"There are not many actors who get offered solo films and it's way tougher to be cast in a solo film than a multi-starrer. Apart from that, I have been choosy regarding the characters I accept," he said.

"MP3 and Teree Sang had really lovable characters to play.

"Just like them, the character of Yuvaan in I Don't Love U is really interesting and layered. I'm sure whoever watches the film will identify with him and fall in love with him. I guess it takes time to get roles that suit you and that's why the long wait."

A teaser for the film's first track, the Mika song 'Ishq Ki Maa Ki', has just released.

"'Ishq Ki Maa Ki' is a superb song sung by the super hit singer Mika. It's a total club song. it has the most entertaining lyrics ever," Mumtaz said.

Ruslaan's bonding with monkeys

Ruslaan Mumtaz, who was shooting for an untitled venture in Haryana, had a funny encounter recently. A unit source revealed that the actor enjoyed feeding monkeys wandering on the shooting location.

"The location was infested with monkeys and looked for food on the sets. Ruslaan would feed them and soon a group of monkeys surrounded Ruslaan hoping to get food from him," said a source.

The source said, "The number grew and there were so many monkeys that it became difficult for any crew member to step into his van whenever they had to summon him on the sets. The unit members would then call Ruslaan on his mobile to tell him to come on the sets."

Confirming the incident Ruslaan laughed, "The monkeys had become good friends by the end of the schedule. I never expected to have such a close encounter with them."
