RUSLAAN TOO GOOD TO BE A SLUMDOG!

BOLLYWOOD BANTER By Eye TV India Bureau

You may be amazed that Ruslaan Mumtaz got rejected for 'Slumdog Millionaire' for being too good looking for the role! Ruslaan auditioned for the role four times. In fact, in the second audition, director Danny Boyle even gave him the script and a narration. But then, the producer of the film felt that Ruslaan is too good looking to play the slumdog. Ruslaan was disappointed, but he is proud to have a bound script of the movie from Danny Boyle himself, without even doing the film, a fact no one else can boast of.

Ruslaan Mumtaz Steps into Salman Khan’s Shoes

August 30th, 2008
Those missing the sweet romantic Salman of ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ days needn’t miss him anymore–he is back! No, Salman Khan hasn’t gone under the scalpel nor have we got hold of a time machine! Director Nikhil Advani has found someone to step into young Salman’s shoes. Ruslaan Mumtaz (son of famous actor Anjana Mumtaz) fits the bill of the character similar to the one played by Salman in ‘MPK’. This chocolate hero of ‘Mera Pahela Pahela Pyaar’ who had left many school girls drooling over his loverboy looks can now get to see him in atleast four films next year. Of them the first film which he has signed is Nikhil Advan’s ‘Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai’ — a sweet romantic comedy. Though Ruslaan is acting as a second lead with Ritesh Deshmukh and the lady in this film is Jacline Fernandiz, the fact that he was considered for the role ‘cos of his similarity to Salman’s college boy looks in ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ is quite a talk in Bollywood these days. Salman is one of the most goodlooking guys in the industry and many feel he looked his best during the ‘MPK’ days. So Ruslaan, it’s time for you to get ready to handle some crazy female fans, now that you have stepped into Salman’s shoes! Great going dude.

Bollywood discovers a new passion….. B-Boing

By Subhash K Jha:

Mera Pehla-Pehla Pyar star Ruslaan Mumtaz is getting up very early in the morning to do some serious B –Boing for his next film.In case you think it's something naughty and unmentionable here's the dope. B Boing is a combination of martial arts and various dance forms like hip-hop breadance. It also requires the practitioner to be proficient at free-style gymnastics. In brief…much grief. B Boing requires rigorous and continuous training for at least six months. And Ruslaan, habituated to late nights and late mornings is falling off with exhaustion. "My B Boing trainer is Deepak Kumar. It's truly exhausting, but finally very rewarding. I'm learning all the intricacies of the art, twirling on my kneecaps on the floor and getting up in a flash, using one finger to rotate on the floor, gyrating hands-free…it's very challenging. But also very very tiring.I find myself sleeping off most of of my free hours. But it's worth it because I am required to be skilled in B -Boing for my new film Jaane Kahan Se Ayee Hai."Isn't this writer Milap Jhaveri's film where Ayesha Takia plays an alien? "That's right, " Ruslaan reveals. "And I play this guy who's skilled at B-Boing. Threrefore all the special training."Ever since Ruslaan began waking up early morning to train, his life has changed completely. "I've no time or wish to go out with friends or party, or to even catch a movie. I've been practising the skill for a month. And I need to be at it for at least six full months before I can even look convincing in the film. I wonder if I'll survive! But I'm enjoying it. Milap and I have become buddies. I was there for his engagement last week. We want to make Jaane Kahan Se Aayee Hai very different for me in terms of looks and personality from my first two films. In Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar and Tere Sang I've a very soft romantic image. But in Jaane Kahan Se Ayee Hai I'm working on a new sinewy look."Though it's now catching on as latest passing fancy B- Boing is not entirely new to the film industry. Rakhi Sawant is adept at it. Grins Ruslaan "That's right. Boy, she can really twirl and rotate on the floor! Though I wouldn't like to try to match steps with her.For my role in Milap's film I've to dance not to compete with Rakhi but to impress Ayesha. I hope I succeed."Incidentally Ruslaan's next release Tere Sang is all about teenage pregnancy. "I'm paired with a new girl Sheena Shahabadi in Tere Sang. Ayesha is going to be my first established heroine. I'm scared. I'm a total newcomer in front of her."

Riteish Deshmukh voluntarily takes a backseat

By Subhash K. Jha, October 13, 2008

You've heard of actors demanding extra songs and dialogues from their co-stars. But have you ever heard of an actor offering to relinquish songs and dances for the betterment of the film? That's what Riteish Deshmukh did on the sets of Milap Jhaveri's Jaane Kahan Se Aayee Hai last week. On being told he was required to do an elaborately choreographed song sequence Riteish questioned the wisdom and sheer logic of his character breaking into intricate dance steps and offered to let the film's young romantic lead Ruslaan Mumtaz do all the dancing. Disbelieving of the confidence level displayed by his co-star, Ruslaan says, "The choreography by Bosco-Caesar involved a lot of B-Boing which is the hip-hop style of dancing. The girls Jacqueline Fernandes and Sonal Sehgal begged off and were given easier steps. That left only me and Riteish. But Riteish put his foot down. He said, 'How can I dance so well when I play a loser?' And he volunteered to just stand quietly while I danced." Ruslaan is all praise for his co-star. "Not too many actors would be happy without songs and dances just to be in character. Riteish is allowing me to do all the hero-giri because he says I play the filmy hero and therefore I should do all the filmy stuff.Riteish Deshmukh voluntarily takes a backseat By Subhash K. Ruslaan Mumtaz is busy gyming, dancing

Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Friday, October 03, 2008]

Now that Ruslaan Mumtaz had got a big project under his belt, he is making sure that he leaves no stone unturned to be the best. Ruslaan has signed a film called Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai with director Nikhil Advani of Kal Ho Na Ho fame, no less.
And even before the shooting starts Ruslaan has had to work rather hard for the film. Advani has asked Ruslaan to get in good shape, even though Ruslaan has a very good and well-maintained physique. But, well, the character demands him to be in better shape, so the director asked Ruslaan to pull up his socks.
And now one can catch Ruslaan in a gym for two hours every day sweating it out. And that's not where it ends. Ruslaan was also asked to join a dance class so that he could be on a par with his co-stars. So after the gym, Ruslaan spends as many as six hours in dance class, getting training from the renowned choreographers Bosco and Ceaser.
Well, like they say mehnat ka phal meetha hota hai, with so much hard work Ruslaan is sure to get diabetic with all the sweet success!
