Bollywood’s chocolate boy Ruslaan Mumtaz is all set to make his TV debut withJee Le Zaraa on Sony.
The show is being touted as the comeback of Sangeeta Ghosh and the young actor is happy being paired opposite her. Ruslaan says, “Sangeeta was my childhood crush and I used to watch her show Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chandwhen I was in Class 10. Even though it’s been a long time, she still looks as pretty. As an actor, there is a lot to learn from her. Sharing screen space with her is like an acting workshop for me.”
The young actor tells us that he did not have to put in too much effort into the character, as he just has to be himself. “I play a young lawyer in the show, who has not yet started practicing. He’s immature and a brat. Basically very much like the real me,” he laughs.
When asked about what made him pick this show for his TV debut, the actor says, “I have worked with the production house for my film Tere Sang and producer Goldie Behl and I work out at the same gym so we have always been in touch. When he told me that I will be working with Sangeeta and that Niranjan Iyengar, who has written some of the best movies in Bollywood, is also involved in the project, I had no second thoughts.”
The actor tells us that he is still getting used to the hectic schedules of television: “Now we have just started shooting, once the show goes on air, it will get even more hectic. Life will be tougher then, but I look at it as a challenge. My respect for TV actors has really grown now.”
Ruslaan adds that the best part of being on TV is that he will get to show off his dancing skills. “I can’t wait to dance at TV award shows. I didn’t get to do that when I was in films,” he says with a smile.
Ruslaan is currently juggling between TV and films. He says, “My film Romeo Idiot Jattani Juliet is almost complete. I was shooting for the film when I was offered the show. Satish Kaushik advised me to take it up. I will need around 15 days off from the show to complete the film and have already spoken to the production house.”
