Oye! Masala
I Dont Luv U is absolutely opposite of Aurangzeb - Ruslaan Mumtaz
You must have been waiting to get back into action, isn't it?
Yes, it has been a long wait. In fact I got used to not being seen on screen (smiles). Today, I can't even digest that I have a film of mine releasing. I am just too calm for my own liking and am not carrying any reaction at all. I can't really pinpoint that why I am not sounding overtly excited. Guess somewhere I have stopped expecting big things to happen to me. I have stopped living in a dream world. I am waiting to see if the film does well. If that happens, it is fine. I have done my job as a professional. The outcome of the film doesn't matter anymore.
It is also four years since the release of Teree Sang that you are coming back in a lead role. That seems like quite a wait.
Yes, I went through a lot of struggle. There was a lot of mental pressure that comes with the territory of Bollywood. Moreover, there is definite heartache when you don't get certain kind of work you want to do. Suddenly I starting calming down and nothing was mattering to me anymore.
Still, there must have something about I Don't Luv U that must have you go for it.
The title is very apt for the film and there are a lot of layers too. You don't know whether this guy loves the girl or not. Apart from that, in today's time youth is confused about love and relationship. They are scared to commit. In our film, the guy does not believe in love anymore. When he meets the girl, he tells her that he likes her but doesn't love her.
There are elements of romance, music and thrills added though. Do you wish to elaborate on that?
It is a college based love story. It also deals with how today's technological evils like MMS leaks affect college romance. What could go wrong when people are dating and then they upload their intimate details on social networking sites? How someone's life could get impacted due to such matters? It is a fresh take on a love story.
Honestly, I really didn't think of just the MMS factor as the USP of the film. It was a strong enough conflict point though. See, it is always a bigger villain who makes the hero come out stronger. In our film, the villain is technology that you can't fight. Once an MMS is out, it is all over the place. In a month's time, the whole country knows about it. When a 19 year old boy fights it out, that is his heroism.
You were made a villain of the piece a few moons back when a MMS scandal broke out. While parallels are being drawn with your personal life as well, isn't it a bit distracting as well considering the fact that the film is basically fiction?
See, I have not been speaking about MMS or getting into those discussions Yes, earlier I used to think that anyone featuring in a MMS was a cheap person. However today I know that he or she could be a victim as well. I sympathise with them and the film has only made me a better human being. Though personal life should neither get affected nor should this issue become overbearing, it is just coincidence that this topic has come up again when we are releasing the film which is based on the same topic. Also, there is more to the film than just the MMS.
Like?
Well, we don't want to reveal it as yet since that element has to be seen in the film. Yes, ours is a teen love story and there is an MMS involved as well. However there is another villain angle as well, which has been hidden so far.
The film is releasing along with Aurangzeb. This seems like one biggie for competition, isn't it?
Actually we had to release with some movie or other. Guess what, Teree Sang had released with eight other films. Thank God this time we are coming alongside only one film. At least we have a decent chance. Moreover, Aurangzeb is an action thriller and we are absolutely opposite to that. Our film is for college students, lovers, couples and for the family audience.
